- Driving Directions
- From the A10 - North / Paris allow about 45 minutes : exit Junction 24 and follow signs on to the A85 Saumur/Angers. Follow the signposts for Chinon which will lead you to on the D751 through the Forest of Chinon to Chinon town centre, then follow directions below.
- From Chinon town centre allow about 8 minutes : leave the town by the bridge over the river Vienne. Drive straight ahead down a tree lined avenue past the Super U supermarket on your right. At St Lazare you will come to a small roundabout. Take the second exit, then take the immediate right turn D116 signposted to Marcay. You need to follow this road for around 5km. Ignore the right turn towards La Roche Clermault. Continue straight ahead, you will pass a memorial stone on your left and will see a single track road towards the right with a tree and a wooden hut on the corner. Turn right here, Rue de la Vallee Picard. Take the next left, Rue de la Garenne de Chargé. Follow the bend in the road round to the right, you will see Château de Chargé straight ahead.
- From the A10 - South / Bordeaux allow about 30 minutes : exit Junction 25 Ste Maure de Touraine. Follow the D760 to Ile Bouchard and the D749 towards Chinon. At St Lazare (Honda garage on your right) you will come to a small roundabout. Take the third exit, as if you were doing a U-turn, then take the immediate right turn D116 signposted to Marcay. You need to follow this road for around 5km. Ignore the right turn towards La Roche Clermault. Continue straight ahead, you will pass a memorial stone on your left and will see a single track road towards the right with a tree and a wooden hut on the corner. Turn right here, Rue de la Vallee Picard. Take the next left, Rue de la Garenne de Chargé. Follow the bend in the road round to the right, you will see Château de Chargé straight ahead.
- Trains : the nearest TGV station is Tours / Saint Pierre des Corps with regular connections from Paris (55 minutes) and Brussels (3 hours). Car hire is available at this station. There is also a TER regional train link from Tours to Chinon town centre.
- Air : regional airports at Tours and Poitiers offer daily services during the summer from the UK (Stansted, Birmingham, Edinburgh) and Ireland (Dublin) through Ryanair, and car hire is available at both airports. Allow 1 hour by car from either of these airports to Chargé. FlyBe operates the route from Southampton to Angers, just under 1 hour by road to Chargé.
